Dreaming of Provence

I dream of visiting the south of France
PROVENCE

Let me take you on a visual tour of Provence
via Pinterest pins found here
Reading Peter Mayle books
that painted the scenes in my head
that tickled the senses
that created my dream to travel to Provence
Breathing in the French country air
Drinking and dining outdoors
Shopping of course
As they sing...sweet dreams are made of these...
 I can smell the lavender
My thoughts linger of days spent here
 Beautiful Provence
your gardens and stone
 draw me closer to thee
For now...I will have to settle for my Herbs of Provence pot
I bought at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris
When I get to Provence
I will have reached
my favorite destination
 in the whole wide world
*this I know*

  3. Chère Rhonda! You and I both are always dreaming of Provence lavender and patina grey; the worn beauty just keeps getting better throughout the ages and who can resist this simply irresistible place? Let us continue our dreams and next year, I'm actually going back to France with my students, but this time, AU NORD, then to Paris. But Provence will always be my home.

THANK YOU FOR THIS and have fun visiting others! Anita

  5. I dream with you, Rhonda. It's too long ago that I've been there. Here, the landscape is similar in some parts of the country, the architecture, unfortunately is not.
    Have a wonderful wekend :)!
    Hugs,
    Julia

    Provence, France
If you are looking to vacation in a magical place that is sheer romance,
a place to fall in love with at first glance, well head to Provence France.

Be it the lure for calm in the countryside, or attracted to the ancient towns and villages,
during the summer months visit the Lavender fields in Sault for inspiring images.

The emblem of France is Lavender, where the heady aromas mingle in the sunshine.
Grown side by side, wheat fields and lavender steeped in old world tradition align.

Golden bands of grain, along-side lavender's purple haze create colorful luminescence,
Bees love lavender and scent their creamy and subtle sweet honey with it's essence.

Sunflower fields border the lavender with a beautiful glow, as sunflowers symbolize the sun.
Every summer there is a festival in Sault with lavender floats and product displays which is fun.

There is lovely Provençal earthenware pottery, delectable macaroons I know, so much ado,
but if your travel adventure is in fairy-tale Provence you will say "Merci Beaucoup"!

Of course the poem belongs to me but just wanted to share with you after your lovely post.

  8. Isn't it wonderful to dream? I'm a dreamer too and often get told to be more real. If there are no dreams no aspirations then where is hope?
I do keep one foot in reality but oh I do dream, yes I do!
    Thanks for sharing.

  36. You have certainly chosen a popular and beautiful spot to share with us, and even though I have been to Provence several times, I really have not gotten to know it well. I hope to remedy that someday soon. That's why I could look at pics like these all night! Have you seen the film "A Good Year"? It is so much fun, and sort of a chick-flick, as well as a great travelogue. You would love it! I believe you follow Shirley on Simply-Chateau? So you are a true Francophile, from le sud to le nord!
    A bientôt,

  40. What amazing photos of Provence. Yes, yes, I would love to go there someday. The lavender fields are calling my name. I've always dreamed of walking between a long row of planted lavender, trailing my fingers over the tops. I would do this early in the morning or late at night in the moonlight to avoid the bees.

  41. Provence is so very special Rhonda, the photos are amazing but wait until you experience the vibe, it fills all your senses!
Provence "sings" in many ways, the sound of cicadas and bees, laughter and chatter, the sight of fields of lavender and sunflowers everywhere.
    You really will love it.
    Hugs
