Handmade with Love A Scapular Book

It's no secret I adore antique and vintage religious tresors, like the one above.
Not only are they displayed in my home,
they inspire me so much.

I created this very personal fabric book
because of my love for scapulars.

When you collect antique laces and fabrics,
it doesn't take much time to pull it all together.

However, this little 2.5 x 2.5 inch fabric book took hours to create.

Smaller creations are very tedious and time consuming
but so worth it!

If you enjoy the little things in life
and I do so very much,
you will like this petite book.

I hand stitched some pages and machine sewed the rest.

Pulling out the vintage, the worn, the tarnished pieces.

Keeping the tattered appearance and distressed look
of a well loved antique piece.

Made with love,
made from the heart.

Religious beliefs are very personal.
What pleases the eye is very personal.
I find these little creations very personal
and they will be in my blog shop only.
I will list 3 this month.

I hope something beautiful and heartwarming
touches you today, wherever you may be.

xo Rhonda

Thank you for sharing Rhonda! Have a beautiful Sabbath!

  2. Oh Rhonda, this is really a special post. Something I can start for my granddaughters. I've so many religious items handed down and this would be a good way of sorting, identifying and displaying them. Thanks for sharing. Have a lovely week.

  4. ya know how I feel on this subject ;)
These little books are soooo wonderful and you have done such a lovely job stitching and putting together the lace and fabrics.
Would you ever consider doing ones that are blank so others could fill with treasured tokens?

  5. So beautiful, oh my what a gift you have my dear. Love it. Di@cottage-wishes

  10. Dear Rhonda, your scapulars book is the most beautiful, little sweetness.
I love everything reliques, like you, and would have been so happy to have just one scapular.I love you made it that tiny.

  11. Rhonda,

I went to look and it was already sold (no wonder why, it is beautiful)! I was wondering if you would be willing to make one as an order? I am Catholic, so this has special meaning to me as well, and having gone through Hurricane Sandy and just getting power back after 13 days, I really need something special to remind me that God is with me no matter what. It has been so difficult, and still is, and I am having a bit of crisis of faith at the moment. Would you please contact me via email to let me know if there is anything you can do and how expensive it might be?

    Thanks ever so much,

  12. Absolutely stunning!
    I love this!
    Have a great evening

  15. I couldn't agree with you more.

Your creation is beautiful and I applaud you for being able to let it go!

I tend to pull the little things out, play with them and then return them to the box for the next time....must get better at this!!!!

  16. Rhonda you have created something so sweet and precious with these scapulars and have made one heart truly happy with their purchase!
I remember my dad wearing one when I was a child! Shane is so lucky to still have hers! Precious spiritual memories!
No wonder I love it so much!
    A beautiful keepsake!

  17. Rhonda.... that just makes me giddy with delight! A simple composition in creamy whites. It's always the simple things that seem to take the longest to complete and you did such a sweet piece of charming antiquity!

  18. The sheer delicate nature of being so petite, oh my goodness this is special.

  19. Rhonda,
I so love your sweet new sewn pieces. There is something so beautiful and special about hand-sewn pieces! I think it must be all the extra time and love that is poured into them, and yours really portray those features beautifully!!! Have a fantastic weekend full of more gorgeous creations.

  20. What a breathtaking and soul-stirring treasure, Rhonda.♥ And, as always, your love and faith just shine from this precious and sacred creation. xoxo
